Establishing reference photograph of a place: Low-angle wide 24mm view of a decaying village harbor pier at dawn. Salt-eroded, rotting gray timbers glisten with damp. In the foreground lies a heap of dead, dull gray cod with slimy scales and clouded eyes, a single fly crawling on one eye. Cold mist clings between the pier and the sea. The misty silhouettes of damp stone cottages rise in the background. Flat green-blue overcast skylight, cold gray, muted green and charcoal palette. Cinematic dark fairytale, painterly realism, rich textures, shallow depth of field, 35mm film grain.
